A joint virtual meeting was held regarding the implementation of NPISAA obligations for 2021

The Independent Media Commission participated in the virtual meeting which was organized by the Office for Economic Criteria and Internal Market - Office of the Prime Minister and the SAA Subcommittee on Innovation, Information Society and Social Policy. The meeting was scheduled to take place in Brussels but due to the pandemic situation it was held virtually.

The purpose of this meeting was to report on the achievements but also the difficulties encountered by institutions regarding the implementation of obligations under the National Plan for the Implementation of the SAA (NPISAA) for 2020 and the conclusions from the meeting of the Sub-Committee from last year. IMC participated in the discussion on the part of the Information Society - Audio-Visual Policy and Media.

The representative of the IMC in the meeting was the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Luan Latifi, who presented the achievements of the IMC during 2020 in fulfilling the obligations arising from the NPISAA as well as the difficulties faced by the institution during 2020, many of which are due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The discussion focused on the following key points:

  • approximation of legislation with the Audio-Visual Media Services Directive 2018;
  • developments related to the process of digitalization of terrestrial broadcasting;
  • developments related to the amendment of the law on the Independent Media Commission;
  • digital dividend release

At the end of the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of the IMC, Mr. Latifi emphasized that the IMC remains committed to achieving the objectives and implementing the obligations arising from the NPISAA.
