IMC hosted a group of young journalists from the School of Journalism Ethics of PCK

The Independent Media Commission (IMC) hosted today in a working meeting a group of young journalists and journalism students from the School of Journalism Ethics, as part of a study visit organized by the Press Council of Kosovo (PCK).

At the beginning of the meeting, a brief summary about the IMC as a media regulator was presented. In continuation of the meeting, the organization, functioning and role of the IMC as the sole and independent regulator for audio visual media in the Republic of Kosovo were presented and explained in detail. In short points, the work and activities of the IMC were presented, in monitoring the applicability of legislation by licensees, the legal framework, work procedures and deadlines, as well as complaints to the media and their treatment by the IMC.

Officials of the IMC responded to the questions of the students in the questions raised on matters related to the regulation of licensees by providing clarifications regarding the work of the IMC in the monitoring and regulation of Audiovisual Media Services. With particular emphasis, the following topics were discussed: compliance with the Code of Ethics by the media and cases of complaints, the Regulation for the protection of children and the Regulation for commercial communications, program schemes, licensing procedures in IMC, mandatory transmission of channels, live broadcasts and protection of minors in the media.

This meeting was a continuation of other meetings and cooperation of the IMC with the PCK, with the aim of promoting the ethical standards of journalism, increasing the quality of reporting in the media and protecting the public's interest. IMC remains an institution that is always ready to offer opportunities for such cooperation and meetings, especially with young journalists, regarding issues related to media regulation in the country.
