The Independent Media Commission (IMC) is closely monitoring media reports on events in the northern municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo and expresses its deep concern for the already documented attacks on journalists, television crews and their property.

Such actions, which can at least be described as hooliganism, are totally unacceptable and a direct attack on information and free speech of the media as non-negotiable values ​​of our society.

IMC strongly condemns violence and attacks against journalists and media, highly appreciating the courage and commitment of each journalist and medium to provide information in real time. At the same time, we ask the competent institutions to bring the perpetrators of these attacks to justice as soon as possible, in order to provide a safe environment to freely exercise the profession of journalism in the service of the public.

IMC strongly encourages all journalists to carry out their mission, being at the service of accurate, correct and impartial information as very important elements of well-being and democratic life in our country.
