The chairman of the IMC, Mr. Jeton Mehmeti, together with the members of the Commission, visited the Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA) of Albania, at the invitation of the Chairperson, Mrs. Armela Krasniqi.

Considering the importance of media regulatory authorities in protecting freedom of expression and ensuring media pluralism, both regulators agreed that cooperation among themselves is very important in the implementation of current legal legislation, frequency coordination between the two countries, exchange of experiences regarding the protection of children and vulnerable groups of society, the implementation of criteria on commercial audiovisual communications, as well as media monitoring in general.

In this meeting, it was highlighted that cooperation and coordination will be even more important based on the gradual extension of regulation in the online sphere as well, after the changes in the European Audiovisual Media Services Directive, where the powers of the regulators are expected to extend to the sphere of audiovisual content in online media.

The heads of the Independent Media Commission and the Audiovisual Media Authority agreed to organize regular meetings in order to discuss issues of common interest and to determine concrete forms of cooperation between them.
