The Independent Media Commission (IMC) received today the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria in Kosovo, Mr. Georg Schnetzer. The Ambassador was received by the Chairman of the IMC Mr. Jeton Mehmeti, the member Mrs. Luljeta Aliu and the Deputy Chief Executive Mr. Faruk Rexhaj.

In his introductory speech, the President, Mr. Mehmeti, first welcomed the Ambassador, Mr. Schnetzer, and then informed him about the mandate, organization and work of the IMC. Ambassador Mr. Schnetzer expressed thanks for the reception, adding interest in understanding more about the recent decisions of the IMC. The chairman, Mr. Mehmeti, emphasized the commitment of the IMC to promote media pluralism in the country, the transparency of media ownership, the advancement of annual objectives and the advancement of the legal framework by harmonizing it with the spirit of EU legislation. However, during the work there are also challenges such as these current regarding the recent decisions of the IMC, but the IMC remains committed to carry out its constitutional and legal duties with full responsibility.

Ambassador Mr. Schnetzer, appreciating the importance of the media regulator, added that he appreciates the cooperation so far while simultaneously confirming the readiness for this cooperation to continue to advance even further.
