A delegation of the KPM has visited the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services and the Agency for Electronic Communications in North Macedonia

Representatives of the Independent Media Commission and the Audio and Audiovisual Media Services Agency (ASHMA), on February 20, 2024 in Skopje, held a bilateral meeting at the premises of the ASHMA.

In the meeting, participants from the KPM side were: The Chairman of the KPM, Mr. Jeton Mehmeti, members Mr. Besnik Berisha and Mr. Fitim Veliu as well as Deputy Chief Executive Mr. Faruk Rexhaj.

On the part of ASHMA, the participants were: Mr. Zoran Trajčevski, Director of the Agency, Mr. Lazo Petrushevski, Chairman of the Council of the Agency, Mr. Selver Ajdini, Deputy Chairman of the Council, Mrs. Dragica Ljubevska, Head of the Cabinet/Head of the Sector for the Support of the Directorate and Activities of the Council of the Agency, Mrs. Emilija Janevska, Head of the Department for Program Affairs and Mrs. Magdalena Davidovska Dovleva, M.A., Head of the Strategic Planning and Copyright Department.

In the meeting, several issues were discussed, the duke emphasized the practical experiences and activities related to the harmonization of the domestic regulation for media with the European one and the implementation of the obligations derived from the revised Directive for audiovisual media services.

Special attention was paid to the experiences in terms of the way of monitoring media content during election processes.

At the end of the meeting, the representatives of the two regulatory bodies found that the mutual cooperation should continue even further in the direction of the exchange of information in the field of media regulation for issues that are of common interest to both parties.

Also on February 21, 2024, IPC visited the Electronic Communications Agency (AKE) in Macedonia. The KPM delegation was received at the meeting by AKE representatives, respectively Mr. Jeton Akiki - Director of the Electronic Communications Agency and Mr. Igor Bojadijev- Advisor to the Director for Radiocommunication and Radio Frequency Monitoring.

During this meeting, the frequency coordination process between the two countries was discussed, with the aim of efficiency in the use of frequencies for terrestrial digital broadcasting channels. They fully agreed that this coordination of frequencies will be finalized with an agreement between the two countries in the coming months.
