The President of the IMC, Mr. Jeton Mehmeti, was today a panelist in the presentation of the Disinformation Report of BIRN Kosova "The vortex of lies". According to the organizer, the Balkan Network of Investigative Journalism-BIRN, the Disinformation Report "Whirlwind of Whirlpool" describes not only disinformation but also its narratives. This report, financed by the Office of the European Union in Kosovo, has 'drafted' disinformation in Kosovo, providing knowledge about the dynamics of disinformation and the consequences it has on the citizens of Kosovo in various fields.
In the framework of this presentation, in Panel I with the topic "The impact of disinformation in Kosovo: Challenges in addressing propaganda, a view from the editorial and regulatory perspective", the participants were:

In this session, the Chairman of the IMC, Mr. In his speech, Jeton Mehmeti presented his views on the topic of disinformation and the current challenges that Kosovo faces in this regard. President Mehmeti said that after the Russian aggression in Ukraine, the IMC took an immediate step, which was the ban on the rebroadcast of two Russian channels in Kosovo, which were "Russia Today" and "Sputnik". Such a decision was taken by the European Commission and the member states in the European Union, taking into account the propaganda that was made by these sources.
It should also be clarified that the IMC has not banned the rebroadcasting of channels coming from other countries such as those from Serbia, but the responsibility of the IMC is that when these televisions violate national security, we act immediately. Because the IMC does not license foreign televisions or channels, but allows them to be rebroadcast in Kosovo, due to the needs of the different communities we have in Kosovo, but the responsibility of the IMC is from the moment when these foreign televisions that rebroadcast in Kosovo, violate national security, then we act immediately as we have done in the past.
